Good Wait — A Production Company

Suzie Lechtenberg is the founder of Good Wait Productions, a boutique podcast company. Good Wait makes important work beautiful: shows as carefully made in their look and sound as they are in their reporting.

She is a journalist first. Over twenty-five years she has made some of the most ambitious narrative audio in the business. She was a Vice President at WNYC and the Executive Producer of Radiolab. She created More Perfect alongside Jad Abumrad, and developed and produced The Other Latif, a long-form investigative series. As Executive Producer of Freakonomics Radio she shaped the show’s editorial from its earliest episodes. She has made work for NPR and consulted on projects for ProPublica, The Atlantic, and The New Yorker Radio Hour, among others. More recently she worked with Bella Freud on Fashion Neurosis, and through Good Wait developed and produced Happy Hour with Ina Garten.

Good Wait builds shows from the ground up: format, reporting, sound, visual aesthetic, branding, guests, the whole thing. It also revamps shows that need a refresh, consults on work in progress, and develops new ones. The range runs from visually beautiful video podcasts to long-form interview series to branded projects.

The name is a nod to John McPhee’s essay “Giving Good Weight,” the greengrocer’s practice of tipping the scale in the customer’s favor. Give a little more than you were asked for. And take the time it takes.

She splits her time between the French countryside and New York.

Here’s to the good wait.
